The Deeside Gliding Club was established in 1963 and since then has become one of the premier sites in the UK with the mountains creating some of the best thermals – the British two-seater record for altitude was set here in 1995 – 37,730 feet! (Normal cruising height for jumbo jets is 33,000feet)
